چکیده

In traumatic lacrimal duct injury, stent placement and anastomosis are commonly performed soon after injury. However, selection for pediatric injuries has rarely been discussed. Herein, we present three cases (one 1-year-old two 3-year-olds; all patients were males) of injury discuss them along with a literature review. The site was the canaliculus in cases. Two treated nylon thread stents one 90-mm Nunchaku-style silicone tube. case tube, insertion around nasolacrimal opening difficult. None had any epiphora at 6 months postoperatively. We also estimated length children. According to this length, tube may have too long child՚s tract. size children shown study provide suggestions making treatment decisions future.

High-resolution dacryoendoscopy for observation for pediatric lacrimal duct obstruction

Purpose The aim of this study was to describe high-resolution dacryoendoscopy findings for nasolacrimal duct obstruction (NLDO) in three representative pediatric cases with different etiologies. Observations In a case of congenital NLDO, a mucosal membranous obstruction was observed at the distal end of the nasolacrimal duct (NLD), and a slit-shaped opening of the NLD was observed after perfo...

Congenital fistula of lacrimal duct.

CONGENITAL fistula of the lacrimal duct is very rare, and is usually associated with other congenital anomalies (Duke-Elder, 1932, 1952; Gray, 1949; Spaeth, 1948). The epithelium of the ducts and alveoli of the lacrimal gland is derived from a series of ectodermal invaginations in the region of the superior conjunctival fornix. Early buds form the orbital portion, while secondary buds from abov...

Bacteriology of lacrimal duct obstruction in adults.

AIMS To determine the current bacteriology of lacrimal duct obstruction (LDO) and to relate the bacteriological findings to the type of symptoms. METHODS 127 samples were obtained from the lacrimal sac in 118 consecutive adult patients with LDO, including nine bilateral cases. RESULTS Altogether, 156 isolates were recovered from the 127 samples cultured. Cultures were positive from 84% of t...

Imperforate puncta with blocked naso-lacrimal duct.

The isolated anomaly of imperforate lacrimal puncta was noted by Zehender (i867, I883). Similarly, blockage of the naso-lacrimal duct was noted by Crigler (1923) and Guerry and Kendig (1948), the anomaly usually being due to failure in canalization. The simultaneous occurrence of these two anomalies would appear to be very rare (Fig. i) and an extensive search of the literature has revealed onl...
